Our Story
Sarah and Kyla first connected through Instagram over their shared, yet very different, experiences as medical moms. They both had seedlings in their hearts of helping other medical parents through resources and support, but meeting each other allowed them to finally plant those seedlings into something beautiful.
Although our experiences and journeys have been different, we connected on the shared lived experience of raising a medically complex child, and everything that goes along with it. Our experiences, stories, strengths and faith compliment each other in a way that has allowed us to grow this beautiful space for other medical parents.
Seeds of Strength
The name Seeds of Strength didn’t take long for us to come up with, and it’s full of meaning for both of us.
Seeds - The Parable of the Mustard Seed (Matthew 17:20) has meaning to both of us. The name of Kyla’s first blog was Isabella’s Mustard Seed, and for Sarah it was a passage that she held onto in dark times. “I tell you the truth, if you had faith even as small as a mustard seed, you could say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there’, and it would move. Nothing would be impossible.” (Matthew 17: 20-21)
Strength - The first name that we considered was Strength in the Storm, because for both of us, God was and continues to be our strength in the storm. We envisioned this space to be another source of strength during your storm.
We decided to merge the two pieces that were important to us, and so Seeds of Strength was born. And then we realized that all of the pieces (or seeds) that we want to offer (resources, groups, counselling etc) all act as pieces that work together to hopefully give you strength as you navigate the medical journey.
